Raymond Glenn Hendrix
Funeral service for Mr. Raymond Glenn Hendrix, 66, of Goodwater, was Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Brandon Keel and Bro. Sam Kaufman officiated.
Mr. Raymond Glenn “Bean” Hendrix, known affectionately as Glenn, passed away on July 3, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on August 9, 1958, Glenn’s life was characterized by his humor, friendliness, and deep faith, which he shared generously with all who knew him.
Glenn is lovingly remembered by his mother, Laurel E. Hendrix, who instilled in him the values of family and faith that guided him throughout his life. He was a devoted father to his sons, Steven (Tara) Hendrix of Goodwater, and Eric (Taylor) Hendrix of Alexander City. His grandchildren; Christopher “Alex” (Cheyenne) Ray, Cole Hendrix, Ethan Hendrix, Logan Hendrix, Dylan Hendrix, and Sky Hendrix; brought him immense joy and pride. Glenn’s legacy continues with his great-grandson, Grady Ryan Ray, who will grow up hearing tales of his great-grandfather’s warmth and wisdom.
Glenn’s life was further enriched by the love and companionship of his brother, Gary (Linda) Hendrix, and his sister, Gaylon (Jason) Buivids. His wife of 19 years and mother to his two sons, Rhonda Hendrix, will cherish the memories of the laughter and kindness Glenn shared with them.
Before his serene departure, Glenn built a life full of meaningful work and service. Glenn was known for his dedication as a little league baseball coach for many years. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family outdoors. Glenn was also known as an avid hunter. He dedicated 20 years to the DC at Russell Corp and then channeled his people skills into a successful 23-year career as an insurance salesman for Mutual Savings. His professional life was marked not only by his achievements, but also by the relationships he built and the trust he earned from his colleagues and clients.
Glenn was a faithful minister for The Church of God for 10 years. His faith was the cornerstone of his existence, and he lived to share the message of love and hope with all. His ability to uplift spirits was unparalleled, and his congregation and The Church of God will deeply miss his guidance, humor, and ever-present smile.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond LeRoy Hendrix, whose memory remained a guiding force in Glenn’s life.
Mr. Raymond Glenn “Bean” Hendrix will be remembered as a man who lived his life with joy and purpose, touching the hearts of many. His funny anecdotes, friendly conversations, and faith-filled presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. James Richard Kelley
Funeral service for Mr. Richard Kelley, 75, of Goodwater, was Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Rock Springs Baptist Church – Goodwater. Bro. James Morgan officiated. Burial followed in the Rock Springs Cemetery – Goodwater.
Richard, a man of generous spirit and loving heart, passed away surrounded by the warmth of his family. His departure leaves a legacy of kindness and devotion that will be cherished by all who knew him. Born into the loving arms of James B. Kelley and Mary Lou Kelley, Richard grew up to be a friendly and compassionate individual, touching lives in his unique way.
After graduating from Goodwater High School, Richard answered the call of duty and enlisted in the Army National Guard. His service spanned over three decades, a period during which he took great pride and enjoyment in serving his country. His commitment to his fellow servicemen and women was unwavering, and the bonds he formed during his time in the National Guard remained a source of camaraderie and support throughout his life.
Richard’s Christian faith was a cornerstone of his existence, guiding his actions and interactions with a gentle hand. He lived his beliefs through everyday acts of kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to those in need.
An ardent supporter of the Auburn Tigers, Richard never missed a game, his enthusiasm for his team as steadfast as his love for his family. His passion for sports extended to watching sports shows, where he could be found cheering on his favorite teams and athletes with fervor.
In quieter moments, Richard found solace in the simple pleasures of life. He was often seen lost in the world of westerns, a genre that captured his imagination and transported him to the rugged landscapes and thrilling adventures of the Old West. Another of his joys was observing the beauty of nature, particularly the birds that frequented his feeders. Watching them flit and fly brought him immense pleasure and peace.
Richard’s friendly nature was a beacon of light in the lives of his loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Kelley of Goodwater, who will forever cherish the years of laughter and love they shared. His legacy continues through his son, Jason Kelley, and his treasured grandchildren, Payton, Ansley, and Trinity, who will carry forward his lessons of generosity and love. His brother, Randall Lee (Sherrie) Kelley, sister-in-law, Susan Sumners, and brother-in-law, Danny Luker, will hold dear the memories of a man who was not just a relative, but a true friend.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, James B. Kelley, and mother, Mary Lou Kelley, who instilled in him the values of kindness and respect that he embodied throughout his life.
Richard’s journey on earth may have concluded, but the impact of his friendly, generous, and loving nature will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit lives on in the stories told, the laughter shared, and the love he spread so freely. Richard will be profoundly missed, yet his essence will forever be a guiding light for his family, friends, and all who were touched by his extraordinary life.
