Ronald Eugene Abrams; a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend; passed away surrounded by his loving family. Born with a spirit of generosity and kindness, Ronnie left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His selflessness and friendly nature were the cornerstones of his life, guiding him through a journey filled with love, service, and joy.
Ronnie’s early years were rooted in the close-knit community of Rockford, where he graduated from Coosa County High School. His passion for learning led him to attend Central Alabama Community College, laying the groundwork for a life of continuous growth. Ronnie’s strong work ethic and artistic skill were evident in his career as a well-sought-out painter who specialized in wallpapering. His hands were rarely still, always working to create beauty in the homes and lives of others.
Ronnie served his country with honor and courage in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His bravery and commitment to his nation were mirrored in his dedication to his community, where he worked as an EMT for the Rockford Ambulance Service. Ronnie’s actions were a testament to his deep-seated belief in service above self.
His faith and walk with Jesus were found later in life; it was a guiding light through the remainder of his time, this side of heaven. His newfound faith provided strength and comfort during both trials and triumphs. He always showed the love and grace of a father and in his last months living here he was embraced unto his Father’s arms as a son.
Ronnie’s passions extended beyond his work and service. He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman who relished in the simple pleasures of life. Hunting and fishing were not just hobbies, but a way to connect with nature and with those he loved. Music brought melody to his life, and he found joy in riding in the boat and embracing the thrill of mud riding in his four-wheel drive. A fervent Alabama football fan, Ronnie’s spirit soared with every victory, and his loyalty never wavered.
The legacy of love and laughter that Ronnie leaves behind is cherished by his beloved wife, Faye Young Abrams, and their daughter, Anna Abrams (Kevin) Messer. His role as a grandfather was one of his greatest joys, and the light of his life will continue to shine through his grandchildren, Avery Grace, Teagan Reese, and Kennedy Faye Messer. Ronald’s siblings, Raymond (Kim) Abrams, Shirley (Terry) Ogle, James (Deborah) Abrams, and Randy Abrams, will hold dear the memories of a brother who was a constant source of friendship and support.
