Central High School celebrates Class of 2025 commencement ceremonies

Special to the News

Family and friends filled the bleachers of the Central gym Tuesday evening for the Class of 2025 commencement ceremony as the seniors were joined on the floor by Board of Education members, administration and faculty.

The Student Government Association president Traci Cox opened the ceremony by leading the attendees in the “Pledge of Allegiance,” and Board President Tiffany McCain sang the national anthem.

Assistant principal, Dr. Andy Watson, welcomed the attendees and applauded the work of the graduates and the promises they embodied.

Speeches by salutatorian, Roderick Graham, and valedictorian, Izabel Whaley, took their classmates down memory lane and inspired them to keep achieving while thanking their families, as well as the staff at Central Coosa for guiding them on their journeys.

Counselor Misty Wade shared the recognition of achievement, including eight Central graduates who will be serving their country in either the Air Force, Army, Marines, or National Guard.

Mrs. Wade then announced the graduates as principal Brandi Lee awarded the seniors their diplomas with assistant principal Dr. Andy Watson and Superintendent of Education David Stover congratulating the students in the receiving line.

Principal Lee conferred the diplomas then instructed the seniors to turn their tassels to signify they were graduates and celebrate their achievement by tossing their caps. The seniors closed out the ceremony by coming together one last time to sing the Central High School Alma Mater. “Once a Cougar, Always a Cougar” spirit filled the gym as the attendees joined the seniors in singing the Alma Mater.

Thank you to the Pride of Coosa County band who performed “Pomp and Circumstance” and the Alma Mater under the direction of Daryl Ingram.

Congratulations to our 2025 graduates; we look forward to your continued achievements. Thank you to PTO president Maressa Ware for pictures.
