Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Hope everyone had a great Easter. The weather was perfect. Providence Baptist had a great sunrise service with about 50 people present.
The Coosa County Historical Society will have its quarterly meeting on Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m. at the Rockford Senior Center. Our guest speaker will be Jim Phillips, an Alabama historian and explorer. He will be giving a talk entitled “Lost, and Some Found, Treasures of 1800s Alabama.”
Also, at the end of the program, he will do free appraisals on old U.S. coins, paper currency and bottles. So if you have something you want appraised, bring it along. You don’t have to be a member to attend, so all are welcome. Refreshments will be furnished by members.
Also, the Old Rock Jail is now open on Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. except Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Then it will be closed for the months of July and August and reopen in September.
Don’t forget to put the Richville Volunteer Fire Department’s next Bingo on your calendar. It will be on Saturday, May 10, at 6:30 p.m., which is the Saturday before Mother’s Day.
Also, the fire department will be selling Boston Butts again this year for Memorial Day weekend. Pickup will be on Saturday, May 24, from 7 to 9 a.m. See any fire department member for tickets as they always sell out. Also, the Neighborhood Watch will be selling baked goods again that morning.
The last verse about Easter I’m sharing is found in John 11:25-26. It reads, “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?’”
These verses confirm that if we believe in Christ, we will live forever. That’s not saying that we will never die here on Earth, but it is promising us that we will have an everlasting life.
While our earthly bodies may die, there will never be a death to our soul. We won’t experience judgment and wrath through sin.
Sometimes people get a misconception of Christians. Being a Christian does not make us perfect! Jesus died on that cross to pay for our sins. But only those that believe in Him and have asked Him into their heart. Then when we do sin, God forgives those sins. However, without Jesus, there is no everlasting life.
Be in prayer for all those that are sick in our community. But also, think about giving someone a call just to say hello; it will make a difference in their day. Many times, when we go out to spread blessings to others, it’s us that gets the blessing.
