The Central Cougar baseball program celebrated its seniors at the season closing game last week.
The post game ceremony started by recognizing the senior Diamond Doll volunteers. Sara and Tara Halsey have served as Diamond Dolls for one year and will be serving their country by joining the U.S. Air Force.
Kelsey McLaughlin has served as a Diamond Doll for one year and will be pursuing a degree in nursing.
Karla Morales has served as a Diamond Doll for one year and will be pursuing a degree in business.
Lizbeth Morales has been a Diamond Doll for one year and will be pursuing a phlebotomy certification.
The 2024 Head Diamond Doll is Samaria Owens, who has served as a Diamond Doll for four years and will be serving her country by joining the National Guard and pursuing a nursing degree.
Ja’Lyrica Unbehant has served as a Diamond Doll for three years and will be pursuing a degree in nursing.
The ceremony concluded by recognizing the senior baseball players, starting with Ziquise Abston who has played Cougar baseball for four years and will be pursuing a degree in electrical engineering.
Dylan Calhoun has played baseball for six years and will be playing football at the collegiate level and pursuing a degree in business.
Gabriel Cano has played baseball for three years and will be serving his country by joining the U.S. Army.
Antoneo Grant has played baseball for five years and is still weighing his post-secondary options.
Riley Humphrey has played baseball for two years and will be pursuing a career as a lineman.
Javion Kelly has played baseball for three years and will be serving his country by joining the National Guard.
Matthew Shone has played baseball for one year and will pursue a degree as a nurse anesthetist.
Lastly, Alex Williams was recognized for his four years playing Cougar baseball. Alex will be serving his country by joining the National Guard.
Head Coach Derek Humprey and assistant coach Daryl Ingram presented the ladies with flowers while Central High School Principal Brandi Lee, Assistant Principal Dr. Andy Watson, Athletic Director Debbie Phillips, and Superintendent of Education David Stover presented the shadow boxes which commemorate the years the students have dedicated to the Cougar baseball program.
Thank you to the parents for your support of the Cougar baseball program. It was a night of joy, memories and tears as we celebrated our students’ service and dedication to the Cougar baseball program, as well as their academic achievements. Cougar Pride!
