Special to the News
In their third “Home Day” in Life Skills self-sufficiency simulations, the students focused on mastering the skills needed to contribute to home life with family, as well as to live independently.
Students practiced making their bed; preparing their own lunch (homemade pizzas, corn and fruit salad); setting the table; washing, drying and putting away dishes; writing friendly letters; addressing envelopes; and more.
These days are so important for our Life Skills students in preparing them to transition to post-secondary life. Life Skills self-sufficiency simulations are directed by paraprofessional Tabitha Hyatt. Mrs. Hyatt added, “We are thankful for this opportunity for our students.”
Mrs. Hyatt also shared that one of Central High School’s favorite students, Simone, recently turned 21 years old. This will be Simone’s last year with us at Central Coosa.
Mrs. Hyatt added, “I am not sure how many students we have been blessed with to stay with us until they are 21 years old, but it is such a big accomplishment for our Simone.”
