The Bible declares that deception and delusion will run rampant in these last days.
Specifically, those negative words that both begin with the letter “D” will take root in the religious world.
Many who proclaim to be speaking on behalf of God and His Word simply are not, but are rather mouthpieces of the enemy spouting doctrines of devils.
They may even sound good and look good to those who don’t know any better. They could be cloaked in religiosity.
They, themselves, even believe they speak what is right, but, in reality, they twist the scriptures, or interpret them through a means other than the Holy Ghost.
The Bible declares of such ones in II Timothy 3:13, which reads, “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”
They are deceived without knowing it, and they deceive others with their man-made creeds.
They can be polished speakers, charismatic in personality, or even seem to be very persuasive in conversation.
They can look the part. That’s the way the devil plays. He doesn’t appear in a red suit with horns and a pitchfork. He comes with sly and cunning deception.
“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” – II Corinthians 12:13-15
The Holy Ghost baptism is vital for us today, as He has been since He was sent to the church following Jesus’ resurrection and ascension.
The Holy Ghost endued the church with power for service in the early church and for the true church today.
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (Acts 2:38-39).
We are the ones that are “afar off” for which the promise of the Holy Ghost remains and for those to come.
The Holy Ghost interpretation of God’s Word is the only one that is correct. That is why He is so imperative for us today.
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” – John 16:13-14.
The Holy Ghost will reveal the Word of God to us. Jesus is the Word of God and the truth. The Holy Ghost will lead us into all truth.
“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” – I Corinthians 2:12-13.
The Holy Ghost will keep us from deception because through Him, we know what is from God’s Word and what is not.
Jesus also said His sheep hear His voice, and they will not follow strangers.
The danger comes when people interpret God’s Word through a means other than God.
Some perhaps want to claim God, but not follow the Word of God. Those are the ones described in II Timothy 4:3-4, which reads, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
Paul wrote some things through the Lord that require the Holy Ghost to comprehend, according to the Bible. Jesus also said some things that many could not receive through the Spirit. “This is an hard saying; who can hear it,” many of His disciples said.
“…even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable, wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” – II Peter 3:15-16.
The Bible tells us that if we hunger and thirst after righteousness, we shall be filled.
We must have a heart for God’s Word.
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” – II Timothy 2:15.
God will enable us to rightly divide His Word through our dedication and desire for Him – two better words that start with the letter “D.”
