Thanks to the Jobs for Alabama Graduates, or JAG, students and their sponsor, Debbie Phillips, annual talent shows have returned to Central High School.
After winning first and second place trophies at the JAG State competition, the JAG students will be progressing to the National JAG Competition in Indianapolis, Indiana, in April. The students were inspired to hold a talent show as a way to raise funds needed for their trip to Nationals.
It takes a lot of courage to get in front of your peers and share your talents. All the acts did a great job, and the student audience was great about supporting and cheering on all the performers.
The emcee for the show, Traci Cox, welcomed everyone and started the show with Reagan Cardwell singing and Kelsey McLaughlin dancing a parody of “Ice Ice Baby.”
Next Roderick Graham performed a dance to a Beyonce song, followed by Kalicia Davis who sang “Lord.”
Damion Marbury was on the stage next to sing “Wrong,” followed by Bailey Childress who sang “Gratitude.” Chole Sizemore performed a dance to the “Macarena,” and Dylan Calhoun also performed a dance to “Li Uzi.”
Mary Anne Ward and Abby Grogan were on the stage next dancing to “Alvin and the Chipmunks Congo.” Zeke Dailey sang while Miles Norman danced to “Smooth Criminal.”
The show closed out with Addison and Harper Self, Tatum Larrabee, Heidi Phillips, Lily Howell, and Chloe Sizemore performing a Lorax Remix to “Whip and NaeNae.”
After the scores of the three judges were tallied the winners were announced. Congratulations to Dylan Calhoun who won third place, Abby Grogan and Mary Ann Ward who won second place and Kalicia Davis who won first place.
Everyone had a great time, and we are looking forward to talent shows becoming an annual event again.
