Seventh grader Kortlyn Welch is the daughter of Wanda McElrath and Vicktor Welch. She resides in the Goodwater community. She attends Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. Kortlyn is a very mannerable and sweet young lady. She is the epitome of class! She works very hard in school and is always willing to help others. Her favorite subject is math. She says she understands it much better than she ever has this year! Kortlyn has been a cheerleader for two years for Central Coosa. She has been cheering since the age of 6, however. As of now, her main goal is to maintain her A-B honor roll status. One day, she has hopes of becoming an entrepreneur! Congratulations, Kortlyn.

Eighth grader Darion Jones is the son of Laquisha and Derrick Jones. He resides in the Goodwater community. Darion always has a very positive and upbeat personality. He is not a complainer and does what is necessary to get work done sufficiently and on time. Reading/English is his favorite subject. He says, “I have a great teacher teaching me in that class.” Darion is a Central High School football and basketball player. He has hopes of one day attending the University of Alabama and majoring in pre-law. Congratulations, Darion.

Ninth grader Jayden Faye Melton is the daughter of Cristal and Waltre Melton of the Alexander City community. Jayden’s teachers say she is a good student who is very respectful and is diligent about making good grades. In addition, she does not mind helping others who are struggling. Jayden’s favorite subject is English because she has an intrinsic love of reading and writing. Outside of academics, Jayden is a member of the Pride of Coosa County band. She is a member of the colorguard and plays the clarinet. After high school, Jayden plans on becoming a hospice nurse. Congratulations, Jayden.

Tenth grader Heidi Phillips is the daughter of Jannah and Morris Phillips. She is a member of the Sylacauga community. She attends Knollwood Presbyterian Church. Heidi’s favorite subject is math because it comes so easily to her. Heidi plays volleyball and golf at Central High School. Her teachers say that she is a great student, respectful, makes good grades, and is helpful to her peers. She has future plans of attending Auburn University and majoring in pharmacy. She would like to be a pharmacist in the U.S. Air Force. Currently, some of her hobbies include shopping, vlogging for her YouTube channel, sleeping, and spending time with friends and family. Congratulations, Heidi.

Eleventh grader Rodrigo Xool is the son of Amanda Xool. He is a member of the Kellyton community. Rodrigo’s favorite class is automotive mechanics because he has a passion for repairing vehicles. In the future, he would like to have a career at a Dodge dealership working in the service department. According to teachers, Rodrigo has worked very hard this year. In addition to staying on top of his school work, he films, edits and produces CBN almost every day. He is very talented and is always willing to lend a helping hand. They also state that Rodrigo is helpful to classmates when he has knowledge to share and is kind to all. He shows respect and takes opportunities that are offered to him to earn additional credentials, even when they are optional. He shows patience in his task and does not rush through just to get things done, but takes his time to make sure he does his best. Congratulations, Rodrigo.

Twelfth grader Jefferson Schwall is the son of Douglas G. Schwall. He resides in the Kellyton community. His favorite subject is history thanks to Mr. Humphrey and Mrs. Stover. Jefferson enjoys working at the Wharf restaurant. His future career plans involve heavy equipment operation, preferably a skid steer driver or automotive mechanics. Furthermore, Jefferson has been actively participating in SkillsUSA and has shown great leadership during competitions. He will be representing the school and district level SkillsUSA at the upcoming state competition. Jefferson has been very diligent in preparing for the state competition. Jefferson has taken initiative in applying for jobs already so that after high school he is already set to enter the workforce. Congratulations, Jefferson.
