Happy Valentine’s Day! Take time today to let those special people in your life know how much they mean to you.
Every day should be Valentine’s Day! We live our lives at such a fast pace these days it’s hard to make the small, most important things our priorities. But priorities should be at the top of our daily lists each day.
What are your priorities when you get up each day? Getting to work or school? Grocery shopping or running errands? Taking care of aging or ill relatives? Taking care of the family finances? Or do you just get up each morning and just take the day as it comes? We all have different perspectives on our daily lives, and the key is making it work for us as individuals.
Some of us may have the luxury of not worrying about what each day will bring us, while many others of us get up each day and struggle to make it through the day. They have to juggle their finances – how to pay the rent or mortgage, how much they can spend on groceries, medical bills, home or car repairs. They have to figure out how to make their money stretch while making very difficult decisions. Right now many of them wake up each day to hearing how our government is going to cut benefits they have, raise the prices on everything, or even hearing they may lose their jobs.
It’s unfortunate that so much of the media is overstating actual events, out and out lying about what is actually happening and basically screaming “the sky is falling, the sky is falling!” Our country has been living outside its means for years and years. It has chosen the wrong priorities to finance and pay for. Instead of taking care of our American families they have chosen to help foreign countries and families instead. But now we are finding out so many things that have been hidden from us about how OUR tax dollars have been being spent under both Republican and Democratic administrations for years!
We need to be concerned about the people employed by our federal government to be responsible for our money, but are not using it for our best interest. We have starving people in our country, people who still have no running water, people living in disaster areas from the hurricanes, fires, and tornadoes while we are spending fortunes supporting non-Americans both here and overseas. There are federal employees who have not gone into their offices since the beginning of COVID-19 but are being paid the same salaries they had been receiving.
If you work and pay taxes, you should be outraged by what is being uncovered since reviews of major government agencies started – and we aren’t even a month into it! Billions and billions of our money is being spent for ridiculous things in foreign countries. Instead of using our tax dollars to help our own citizens we are paying for housing, food, clothes, medical care, and education for people who are NOT Americans and are here illegally. As I am writing this, I am hearing the reports of $59 million being paid by FEMA funds to provide free hotel rooms to illegal immigrants in New York City – last WEEK! That money should be spent on the people in California, North Carolina, Georgia, and other states trying to recover from disasters.
Thank goodness the reports are also saying that four employees at FEMA have been fired for this action. How many other federal employees and/or elected officials are doing the very same things? That is our money that should be being spent on legal Americans. All abusers should be fired and replaced with honest American workers – if even needed.
Elections have consequences, and the work now being done under this administration is exactly what 70% of the population voted for. We want to see our great country going back to the basis of our Constitution. We want to see illegal criminals sent back to their home countries to put a stop to the rapes, murders and other crimes being committed against our citizens. We want to return our federal government to the responsibilities designated in our Constitution and allow the states to again become the sovereign states they were meant to be. The most effective government is that closest to the citizens.
I do want to stress that the reporting of cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are false. If anything, reviews of those agencies may also uncover waste that could actually improve their abilities to provide for their beneficiaries. Plus, there will be NO tax on the Social Security benefits! Every government agency needs to be fully audited to ensure our tax dollars are being used for the benefit of our citizens. What has been very disappointing to me is hearing how many agencies have failed audits, but nothing being done about it. We go back to reports of federal agencies paying $50 for a $3 screwdriver or paying millions of dollars for foreign goods that could be produced here for over half the amount by American workers.
Remember, the people who cry wolf the loudest are generally the people who are most guilty of those exact things. Please don’t fall for the “sky is falling” narrative. We are witnessing the heavy clouds that have been strangling us being removed to let the sun shine in. Americans should come first!
