A second fatal crash in Coosa County south of Rockford within a week has claimed two lives and left one injured.
A two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday, January 18, on U.S. Highway 231 near the 181-mile marker, approximately six miles south of Rockford. This crash occurred just four days after another fatal crash claimed a life in the same area.
In last Saturday’s wreck, 34-year-old Kelderick J. Williams of Vestavia Hills was fatally injured when the 2003 BMW 325xi that he was driving crashed with a 2021 Nissan Murano driven by 73-year-old James W. Thrasher of Oxford.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Williams was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Linda J. Thrasher, 70 years old, of Oxford, who was a passenger in the Murano, was transported to Elmore County Hospital in Wetumpka, where she later succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased.
James Thrasher was also injured and transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
