“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:20).
Americans celebrated November 28 this year as a special day of Thanksgiving! There is so much to be thankful for each and every day and perhaps especially on this day. I am thankful…
For a loving Heavenly Father! I am thankful that He provides us with all good things.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights,
with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17).
We should be thankful that as a Christian, a child of God, we may go to Him in prayer and rightfully call him Father. Jesus said, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth. and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children. how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him” (Matthew 7:7-11).
How wonderful to serve a God of love and compassion. I am thankful that God has promised us an eternal home in heaven.
For a loving Savior! Jesus willingly laid down His life upon the cross, shedding His blood so that we might have the forgiveness of sin (Ephesians 1:7). “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” (Romans 5:6).
Because of sin we all deserve to be punished. Paul wrote, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
I am also thankful that all spiritual blessings are found “in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3) and that He has set the perfect example for me to follow (I Peter 2:21).
For the Bible! The Bible makes us complete. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works:” (II Timothy 3:16,17).
The Bible contains God’s will, including His commandments for us to get to heaven. Only through the
Bible can we find the answers to man’s most difficult questions, such as “If I die will I live again?,”
and “where did I come from?” A thorough study of the Bible will keep us from being ashamed in the day of judgment (II Timothy 2:15). Search the Scriptures!
There are so many things that we should be thankful for! A free and wonderful country, our food, clothing, home, automobiles, jobs, and life! Let’s be thankful on November 28 and each and every day!
