In My Humble Opinion

I guess we picked a historical period of time to be out of town, on the road, off the media and communication grid, and unable to keep up. We – Ran and Terry Wilson and I – were gone for three weeks seeing the most wonderful show of God’s nature our great country has to offer.
We went from 300-plus feet below sea level to 8,000-plus feet above sea level; saw deserts and rain forests; experienced extreme weather changes (119 degrees and dry to high 40 degrees and raining); and traveled by plane, car and cruise ship (plus vans and buses).
We visited 12 national parks in addition to other wonderful sights and locations. We saw bighorn sheep, whales, jack rabbits, seals, eagles, ravens, and black-tail deer, among many other types of wildlife (but no elk or moose). It was the adventure of a lifetime, and now we are back home vacationing from travels!
Somehow we were in a hotel room at the time of the Trump rally on July 13. We witnessed the attempted assassination of our former and hopefully future president of the United States. We were able to see the discrepancies of the security that was in place to protect him. Only by the grace of God is he still alive.
Thankfully the ship we were on had national news shows so we were able to watch and listen to the calls for the resignation of our current president from the Democratic Party who finally admitted that he is not capable of carrying out another term, much less the possibility of the rest of this current term. While off the ship for excursions we were able to connect to the internet to keep up with the fast pace of the changes that were being made in our country.
Our country is now in uncharted territory. A political party that has been touting their support for our “democracy” has used the most “un-democratic” way to replace their candidate as elected by the voters in primary elections. They just don’t understand (or accept) that our country is NOT a democracy – we are a Constitutional Republic!
They have also now decided on their own – without public votes – to replace their candidate with an unproven, virtually unknown, far-left vice president who has not accomplished anything herself except excuses for what she HASN’T done, like securing the border as our country’s dedicated “Border Czar”! She still hasn’t ever been to the border!
I’m wondering what will happen at the Democratic National Convention next month. Will the delegates really support the announcement that they have changed their support from Biden to Harris? Will they willingly do what they are told to do by the party leaders? Or will they begin to see they are sheep being led to slaughter without a voice of their own?
Will they finally find the courage to question what the “party” says to do? Are there any “free thinkers” within the Democratic Party who will stand up to the far left who have led them to the new plantation provided by government control?
I am old enough to remember when the strongest family units were in the Black communities. They held the strongest religious beliefs, they valued their families because that had been destroyed by slavery, they had strong work ethics, and really DID have good schools providing a much better education than any of us have today.
Until 1965 most of the Black communities were Republicans, but they were bought out by LBJ who started the government programs that destroyed the family unit by preventing a man from living with his family in order for them to get the “free cheese and housing.”
Women were encouraged to have more babies outside of marriage in order to receive more government benefits for each child they had. A once proud people were taught they were “victims” instead of “survivors.”
I hope all people will stop thinking that the “news” that is provided by ALL networks is only opinions from the commentators or their bosses. We do not have any source of actual, verifiable and honest news of any kind. And I include FOX News, CNN, MSNBC, Newsmax, ABC, CBS, and all other media outlets! Too many people are getting their “news” from Facebook, X “formerly Twitter,” Google, or other internet/streaming services. Our country is divided by the “truth” we believe we are being told. Unfortunately, we are being eaten by our own leaders.
I wish we could all just identify as “Americans” with differing opinions that we could sit down and have cordial conversations about. I think we have much more in common than we are being led to believe. If nothing else, those of us who are Christians should be able to carry on conversations about how our biblical beliefs bring us together regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, or age. We are getting to a stage of no-return if we can’t figure out how to “get along.”
I’m going to close with a comparison of how different people respond to events. Please notice there was no rioting, burning down buildings, or marching in the streets after the assassination attempt on former President and presidential candidate Donald Trump. In the congressional hearings on the lack of security, both Democrats and Republicans are calling for the resignation of the head of the Secret Service stating that this event was unacceptable and must be corrected immediately. I just wish they could come together on other issues we face together.
God bless America – please pray for the healing of our land. And please pray for Coosa County – the absolute best place to live!
