Claude Bain “Pa Pa Bain” Culver
Claude Bain Culver, age 92, of Weogufka, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024.
Bain is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Joyce Culver; two daughters, Gail Ezekiel (Tim), Vanessa Green (Jeff); four grandchildren, Kimberly Schmidt (Robert), Matthew Ezekiel (Mandy), Chad Green (Sarah Beth), Chase Green (Janon); eight great-grandchildren, Blake Schmidt (Kasey), Andrew Schmidt, Bradley Ezekiel, Ansley Ezekiel, Margaret Green, Chance Green, Eliana Green, Everett Green; two sisters, Betty Blades, Christine Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Bain was preceded in death by his parents, Dudley Oliver and Sara Emma Culver; and five siblings, Grafford Johnson, Pauline Click Hyatt, D. O. Culver Jr., Perry Denson Culver, and Robert Cecil Culver.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to caregiver Wanda Pope.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Weogufka 2nd Baptist, 5932 Coosa County Road 56, Weogufka, with Bro. Brandon Baird, Bro. Danny Bynum and Bro. Steve Dyess officiating.
Mr. Culver was laid to rest in Weogufka 2nd Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Matthew Ezekiel, Robert Schmidt, Chad Green, Chase Green, Bradley Ezekiel, Blake Schmidt, and Andrew Schmidt. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Mel Palmer; Mathew Palmer; Myles Palmer; Richard Blades III; Day Johnson; Kenny Click; Bobby Click; Terry Click; Isom Culver; Glenn Metts; and Deacons of Weogufka Second Baptist Church, Melvin Palmer, Johnny Turney, Sonny Braiden, and Paul Dunsieth.
Bain was an active member for many years of Weogufka Second Baptist where he was a deacon for 53 years and served as Sunday School Director. Bain served on the Coosa County Board of Education for 40 years, and he was a founding member of the Weogufka Volunteer Fire Department. He also served on the board of Stewartville Water Authority.
His favorite place and the legacy of memories that will be left for his family is our special place on Lake Martin where love and laughter will continue for generations to come.
