Bro. Sam Kaufman
This whole selling the house thing (and getting into a new one) is crazy! I’m thankful for God’s direction in it, along with the efforts from our sharp realtor, Sam Spurlin.
Sam did a wonderful job of getting us into our home on Hillabee Road in Alex City around seven or eight years ago, and now with the sale of it. Kudos to Sam.
God deserves so much credit for providing insight on how to deal with things like offers and counteroffers, etc. He knows what is going on with both sides of the equation.
I wouldn’t want to go into home selling/buying without God in my corner. A lot of prayer went into it. For those who don’t know, God still answers prayer.
There were times I approached being at my wit’s end – if that’s a good way to describe it. Guess who was there to pick me up? It was none other than God.
He also provided interesting and innovative avenues and answers to proceed forward. Sometimes we can’t figure out the timing of things while we’re working through the issues, but God’s timing is impeccable.
For instance, the home we were interested in listed for $70,000 more when this process was initiated around seven months ago. Additionally, interest rates have fallen since that time.
I’m one that works diligently to save as much as I can with anything. Ask my wife. She knows.
Whether it is finding the best gas prices or selling/buying homes, I want the best deal possible.
The Lord helps me with these things because He knows they are important to me. In fact, God knows every intricate detail and the inner workings of the situation at hand.
That’s why it pays to have Him involved in everything! He helps iron out all the details.
God knows every minute detail with all His creation.
He knows what we’re thinking. He knows all our thoughts from the first to the last. He knows the number of hairs on our head. He knows every detail about our physical condition – what is going on within our bodies – from the time we are conceived until the time we leave this world.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made. God knows about every atom, molecule and neuron – think synapses, as well – within our bodies.
His ways and thoughts are so much higher than ours – as far as heaven is above the earth.
He is a sovereign God – all knowing, omnipotent, omniscient, etc. That’s why we seek Him in every facet of our lives.
“Is this what God would have us to do?” we humbly ask.
If so, we seek Him for the details.
When the counteroffer for our home came to our attention, and I literally had a short time to respond, I prayed about it.
I felt like reading the chapter I was at in the Bible to glean direction. Then I thought, “How will God respond to me in 2 Kings 13?” I quickly discovered what I needed at that moment. I can’t lie about being astonished with how it spoke to me.
The numbers I needed were even there!
The chapter discusses the time when the Prophet Elisha was about to die. He visited with Joash, the king of Judah.
Israel’s arrow of deliverance was shot from the bow. Then the prophet asked the king to take the arrows and smite them on the ground. The king smote the arrows three times. The prophet was disappointed.
This is how he responded in 2 Kings 13:19, “And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.”
The number five was specifically what I was looking for, and though that verse has nothing to do with what to offer for our house, it spoke volumes to me.
That’s the figure I went with, and it was accepted.
The Lord also revealed another specific number I needed to make an initial offer. Everything worked out just as God planned.
