At halftime the Central Cougars were down 27-17, but they fought their way back in the second half, taking the sub-regional title with a score 51-50 against the Lafayette Bulldogs Tuesday evening at Joe N. Belyeu Gymnasium.
A shot by #2 Dequalon Thomas tied the game up at 45-45 in the fourth quarter. The fans were brought to their feet when #11 DeMarcus Sandlin’s shot, with only 14 seconds left in the game, brought the score to 51-50.
Other players making a strong showing were #14 Trae Butler, scoring 13 points, and #15 Nehemiah Sanders with 12 rebounds.
