Jerry Meeks

Graveside service for Jerry Meeks, age 75, of Kellyton, was Monday, December 6, 2021, at Wooten Chapel Cemetery in Vestavia Hills with the Rev. Bobby Curlee officiating.

Mr. Meeks passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his son, Marty Meeks. He was owner of City Auto Electric in Kellyton and was known for treating people right. He was an avid deer hunter and loved riding his Gold Wing motorcycle and being outdoors. He was a loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, Candice G. Meeks; daughter, Angela R. Curlee (Kenney); brother, Robert L. Meeks (Carol); sisters, Carol Daugherty (Donald) and Judy Ray.

Jessie Ruth Neighbors

Funeral service for Mrs. Jessie Ruth Neighbors, 87, of Wetumpka, was Monday, December 6, 2021, at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Jackson and Rev. Richard Hall officiated. Burial followed in the Hillview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Neighbors passed away peacefully on December 2, 2021, at her home. She was born on March 26, 1934, in Coosa County to Lawrence Estes and Inez McCain Estes. Mrs. Neighbors retired from Russell Corporation after 46 years. She was a finalist for the 1987 Alabama Textile Citizen of the Year for the Montgomery plant. She worked part time at the State Capital in Montgomery for 15 years at the registration desk and as a tour guide. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority for over 40 years and was named Alabama State Woman of the Year in 1998 and 2017. She received the International Award of Distinction in 2017 which is the highest honor given by Beta Sigma Phi. She was also an avid University of Alabama football fan.

She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Cardwell (Ricky) of Rockford; son, Joe Larson Neighbors Jr. (Susan) of Goodwater; grandchildren, Renee Hall (Richard) of Scottsboro, Amanda Carones (Francesco) of Milan, Italy, Fred Neighbors (Tina) of Chelsea, and Darrell Cardwell (Tammie) of Equality; great-grandchildren, Rachel Hall Davis (Joshua), Lauren Grace Hall, Lyndsay Hall, Will Neighbors, Caroline Neighbors, Carson Cardwell, Mackenzie Cardwell, Reagan Cardwell, D.J. Cardwell, Alessandro Carones, and Emilio Carones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Larson Neighbors Sr.; sisters, Catherine Estes, Mary Carr; brothers, Reginald Estes and Judson Estes.

William Harold Talton

Funeral service for Mr. William Harold “Bill” Talton, 76, of Goodwater, was Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the Goodwater Baptist Church. Rev. Ed Frantz and Rev. Joe Fain officiated. Burial followed in the Brownville Cemetery.

Mr. Talton passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Brookwood Medical Center. He was born on February 26, 1945, in Alexandria, Virginia. He was raised in Goodwater by Harold and Katie Bagley. He was an active member of Goodwater Baptist Church. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed farming, and he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosalee Chapman Talton of Goodwater; sons, John Bagley Talton of Goodwater and James Thomas Talton (Julie) of Springville; grandchildren, Abigail Talton and Audrey Talton, both of Springville; and brother, John E. Talton (Lola) of Alexander City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
