A multi-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7 a.m. Monday, September 14, has resulted in the arrest of a Munford man on a felony charge.
Joesph T. Newborn Jr., 31, of Munford, was the driver of the 1995 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup, which was struck by the 2015 Lexus IS250C driven by Shedric C. Long, 34, of Anniston. After the initial collision, the GMC pickup collided with another 2015 Lexus IS250, which was driven by Jamey D.W. Smith, 38, of Lincoln.
Jerrica N. Rowland, 34, of Talladega, who was a passenger in the Lexus IS250C, which was the Lexus involved in the initial collision, was injured and transported to Regional Medical Center in Anniston for medical treatment.
Joesph T. Newborn Jr., the driver of the GMC pickup, attempted to flee the scene, but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. Newborn was charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident and placed in the Talladega County Jail with a $7,500 bond.
The crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 78 and Wills Farm Road, approximately four miles east of Lincoln city limits, in Talladega County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
