Rockford taking orders of banners in time for Veteran’s Day

With the fall season approaching, the Town of Rockford is taking orders for veteran banners ahead of the Veteran’s Day celebration.
The town will be placing another order of veteran banners to be delivered in time for the town’s annual Veteran’s Day luncheon in November. The order deadline for this batch of banners is October 1.
Rockford’s veteran banner program is to honor all Coosa County veterans, not just those from or currently residing in Rockford. The program also honors both past and present military heroes, including living or deceased veterans, those currently serving and wartime or peacetime veterans, whether they served a few years or an entire career.
Banners previously ordered to kick off the program were displayed along the park fence for the town’s summer celebration in late June, celebrating the United States’ semiquincentennial, honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States’ Declaration of Independence.
Those banners and any newly ordered banners since then will be displayed in The Old Rockford School during the annual Veteran’s Day luncheon.
The town plans to also continue displaying the banners in the park each summer, and it looks forward to continuing the banners for years to come.
The double-sided, high-grade vinyl banners are 2-feet wide by 4-feet high and include the veteran’s name, photo, rank, military branch, dates of service, any prestigious medals or other information, and whether the veteran was a Prisoner of War, Missing in Action, Killed in Action, or Died in Service.
Each banner costs $120, and the order deadline for the Veteran’s Day display is Thursday, October 1.
Those sponsoring each banner can fill out a form with the veteran’s service details, include a photo of the veteran and provide the town with a copy of their DD-214 or discharge papers if available.
The $120 cost per banner can be paid via cash or check made out to “Rockford Holiday Market” with “Veteran Banner” noted on the memo line. Banners will not be ordered until payment has been received.
Orders can be placed at Rockford Town Hall, with forms and submissions being dropped off there or mailed to Rockford Town Hall; 9688 U.S. Hwy. 231; Rockford, AL 35136.
Orders can also be submitted via email to RockfordVeteransBanners@gmail.com. If emailing photos and forms, the town asks that they be scanned in at 600 dots per inch, or dpi, before submitting them.
