A traffic stop late last month resulted in the arrest of a Sylacauga man on drug-related charges, including methamphetamine.
On July 25, Deputy Kelley was patrolling County Road 49 near County Road 511 when he observed a vehicle driving erratically.
Kelley proceeded to conduct a traffic stop, and while speaking to the driver he observed a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana. He asked the driver to step out of the vehicle, and the driver began dusting off his pants.
Kelley asked if the driver had anything illegal in the vehicle or on his person. The driver advised Kelley that he is a synthetic marijuana addict and further advised the deputy that the item in his lap was synthetic marijuana.
After the driver was detained, Kelley conducted a search of the vehicle and located a bag that contained a crystal substance, which tested positive for meth, and another bag containing a green leafy substance, which tested positive for marijuana.
James Alan Faulkner, 45, was arrested for synthetic narcotics possession, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His total bond was set at $12,500. He was released on bond on July 26 to await trial.
