Equality & Nixburg News
Jennifer Williamson
Good news for Equality, a new business has opened. Big John’s Liquidation is now up and running at the corner of Highway 9 and County Road 98 in downtown Equality!
They offer great deals on a variety of items, and inventory changes regularly. Also, they will be running the antique shop next door, and both stores are currently open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., subject to change depending on foot traffic in the stores. Come down and check out their store.
Coosa Fancy is open for their eight-week Summer CSA, Customer Supported Agriculture, which begins July 11! For a flat rate of $160, guarantee yourself a weekly taste of tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, available greens, and whatever else your favorite small farm has growing in the garden! Learn more at www.coosa-fancy.com.
Coosa Fancy also has a discount available for those ready to sign up for their ten-week Fall CSA! Check out their website for options and more information!
Jenny’s General has a new roof on! So very happy, and it was very nice in the latest round of storms to see no leaks inside the store.
We also had the lot where the greenhouse stood cleaned up for nice additional parking. May be adding more soil and gravel in back to make it better to drive through to County Road 307, but right now just very happy to have things cleaned up more.
Community activities that are available that you can support:
- The Equality quilting group meets every Monday evening from 6 to 8 at Jenny’s General Store. We do more than quilt; some embroider, crochet and other needle arts. And yes, we still meet every week!
- Kendrick Memorial Baptist Church’s yard sale, held most Saturdays starting at 8 a.m. Address is 5152 Alabama Highway 9 in Nixburg.
- Elaine Rutledge of Nixburg hosts Rummikub at the Alexander City Senior Center in the Sportplex every Friday starting at 10 a.m.
- Equality Volunteer Fire Department will not hold their First Saturday fund raising on July 4. They will be holding their first Saturday fundraising on August 1. Please join the community in supporting our wonderful volunteers after the Independence Day holiday.
I depend upon my readers to share with me what is happening within your organizations, churches, neighborhoods, groups, or family to share in next week’s column. Please contact me; leave a voice message or text 256-531-6460 or email at coosacafe@gmail.com.
