A Coosa County inmate faces an additional charge after allegedly damaging jail property last month.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that on May 12, deputies responded to the Sheriff’s Office because of an inmate causing damage to the sprinkler system in a cell block.
After talking with the jail administrator and corrections officers, 40-year-old Javarse Dontrell Williams of Goodwater was arrested and charged with destruction of property by a prisoner.
His bond for that charge was set at $7,500. On May 18 he was released to another state agency.
Williams had been in custody at the Coosa County Jail since March 25. As reported previously, he was arrested at that time for 12 charges, including drug- and firearm-related charges and failure-to-appear warrants.
