It was the annual Take Me Out to the Ballgame for the Central Elementary students, and the Cougars did not disappoint. The students were cooled off with a couple of minutes of rain, but it did not dampen their spirits.
Central won big over Talladega 15-2 last Friday.
Talladega was the first to get on the board in the first when D. Curry hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Central flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring six runs on one hit to take the lead, 6-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a walk by Haven Williams that drove in two.
Central added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Jacob Stevens singled, and Stevens stole home, each scoring one run.
Central added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when an error scored one run, Williams singled, scoring one run, and Waylan Chapman drew a walk, scoring one run.
CJ Franklin earned the win for Central. The pitcher allowed zero hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking one.
Stevens threw one inning of scoreless ball for Central in relief. The hurler surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking one.
Javarious Wilson led Central with two hits in two at bats. Williams, Bryant Wickersham, Stevens, and Franklin each drove in one run for Central.
Central had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game.
Ethan Cosby and Franklin led the team with two free passes each. Williams, Cosby, Wickersham, Chapman, Stevens, and Franklin each stole multiple bases for Central, with a total of 22 bases stolen in the game.
