Last Friday, January 17, many of Coosa County’s local officials who were elected to office in November took their oaths of office and were sworn into office to begin their terms.
The swearing-in ceremonies were held for Circuit Judge David Law, Circuit Clerk Jamey Johnson, Superintendent of Education David Stover Jr., and Judge of Probate Richard Dean.
Additionally, Pam Weathers was sworn in as chief clerk of the probate office, with Dean administering the oath of office during the day’s ceremonies.
Family members and friends gathered in support of their loved ones being sworn into office, and refreshments were also on hand for the occasion.
A special time was also set aside during the event for new Circuit Clerk Jamey Johnson to present a plaque to Anita Spivey, who is the outgoing circuit clerk after being appointed to fill the vacancy left by Jeff Wood. The commemorative plaque honors Spivey for her 25 years and three months of service to the State of Alabama.
