Ethan Cosby is standing beside the models of elements, molecules and compounds that Mrs. White’s chemistry students made as they concluded their studies of chemical bonding and molecular shapes.

Mrs. White’s chemistry students calculated the molar masses of sugar, salt and water and then measured these amounts as a comparison of molar masses of compounds.

Mr. Mitchell’s biology students simulated the process of transcription (DNA making mRNA), translation (ribosomes reading the mRNA) and protein synthesis (tRNA bringing the correct amino acids together to make a protein). Their protein names were Auburn, Alabama, Central, Cougars, Varsity, and Biology!

Mr Mitchell’s physical science students are using iron filings to study the magnetic fields of magnets.
It is great to see the students so engaged in learning science. Thank you to Coosa County Schools science coach Shelley Wood for sharing pictures and information.
