Special to the News
A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, has claimed the life of a Talladega woman.
Janice W. Bullard, 63, was fatally injured when the 2015 Chrysler 200, in which she was a passenger, struck a horse standing in the roadway.
After the initial collision with the horse, the Chrysler left the roadway and struck a large rock. Bullard was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Chrysler; Angela M. Lackey, 47, of Talladega; and Nina S. Lackey; 67, also of Talladega, who was also a passenger in the Chrysler; were both injured and transported to University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 231 near the 181-mile marker, approximately eight miles south of Rockford, in Coosa County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
