Santa Claus to ride through Goodwater tomorrow

Goodwater will have a special guest in town tomorrow as the jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus, will be riding throughout town with the Goodwater Volunteer Fire Department.
Children and adults alike are encouraged to keep their eyes out for Santa to ride by tomorrow afternoon, even stopping for a break in town.
The Goodwater VFD had an initial route planned for Santa that was anticipated to take 45 minutes to an hour. However, after working closely with Santa and Mrs. Claus, the Goodwater Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office, the Goodwater Fire Department was able to set a final route for Saturday afternoon.
The fire department will give Santa a ride through town beginning at 3 p.m. tomorrow at the fire department. Leaving the station, Santa will ride with his firefighter friends heading out Salter Street to Mountain View Apartments, and from there he will make his way to Macedonia Circle.
From Macedonia Circle, Santa and the volunteers will travel to Highland Street, onto Nebo Street past the Goodwater Headstart, down Nebo Street to Old Wetumpka Road.
The group will then travel north on Alabama Highway 9 to Armory Street, where they will turn around at Paradise Mission Church. They will not be able to go into Hillside Haven or Highland Ridge.
However, Goodwater VFD has scheduled a short break for Santa at the church before continuing his ride through town.
From Paradise Mission Church, Santa will ride north on Highway 9 directly through downtown Goodwater. They will then turn right onto Railroad Place, then left over the railroad tracks on County Road 86, out to Harris Street, and back up Clay Street, concluding Santa’s ride through town.
With it being so close to Christmas, Santa will have to go back to the North Pole after this. However, he fit time for the visit into his busy schedule and is excited to see all the good little boys and girls tomorrow, as well as those who are young at heart.
Goodwater VFD is honored that Santa chose its volunteers to give him a ride, and the department is proud to play a part in bringing as many smiles as possible to all the children in town.
Area residents and others are invited to bring their children out, take pictures and enjoy the day with their family.
Any questions are asked to be directed to Captain Brian Ward or EMT Quinn Smith with Goodwater Volunteer Fire Department.
