In My Humble Opinion
Jodi McDade
To my Democratic friends, I would like to say don’t worry – things are not going to be as bad as you have been told. No one is going to take away your right to vote – unless you are not a legal citizen. If you feel you need to be guaranteed access to abortions – contact your state senator, representative and/or governor. The federal government does not oversee that any longer. No one is going to outlaw birth control pills – they are much cheaper and easier than abortions.
What you may see is a reduction in food, gas and utility bills. You may see a reduction in the taxes you are required to pay.
You may see your children receive a better education, and you will be able to participate in the type of education they receive. Education savings accounts will help you afford to send your children to the school of your choice rather than being told by the government where they must attend school. Your children may actually be taught patriotism and be able to pray in school.
Law and order is going to be restored – especially in the large cities. Criminals will be arrested and held in jail instead of being immediately released back onto the streets. Our borders will be closed to illegal entry and illegal immigrants currently here will be returned to their homeland until they can come in legally. Boys will not be allowed in girls’ restrooms, locker rooms, or to play on girls’ sports teams.
A large majority of our fellow citizens spoke loudly and proudly about the changes they want to see in our country. This was far from a close election with many people who had always supported the Democratic Party voting for President-elect Donald Trump and his policies. These people were from all walks of life – young/old, male/female, gay/straight, Black/white/brown. Union workers, people from the suburbs, people from the big cities, farmers, truck drivers, teachers, etc. all let their voices be heard to return our country to working FOR them instead of AGAINST them.
I really didn’t know which way this election would go, but I have been so surprised by the outcomes. Not only the changes in the White House, but also the changes in the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate and state houses across the country have been being announced. And now this week we are seeing a total turnaround in the type of people who will be serving in the next administration and as department heads. Hopefully, the people being called on will help turn our country around to again being the strongest country in the world and respected by the other world leaders. And hopefully they will help return our Constitution as the guide for our government.
We are already seeing moves to end some of the conflicts around the world. We are going to take care of Americans first instead of bankrolling countries who don’t even try to help themselves. Instead of sending our tax dollars to other countries we will see improvements in OUR lives. Hopefully, we will see a return to people helping people instead of being dependent on the government. Businesses will move back to American soil and provide jobs for our citizens.
I am so glad I can continue to make plans to travel, and I’m hoping to be able to feel safe going back to Washington, D.C., and other large cities once law enforcement is able to bring safety back to their streets. Criminals should be on notice to clean up their acts. Celebrities who threatened to leave our country if Donald Trump won should be packing their bags and making arrangements to move. All these snowflakes in our colleges and universities need to put on their adult underwear and learn to take care of themselves.
We are getting ready to return to the ideas of equality vs. equity, liberty vs. tyranny, freedom vs. control. We need to accept people for who they are and to not force our beliefs on others. We need to learn to respect each other, learn how to carry on civil conversations to discuss disagreements and have a media that will not spend their time trying to divide us, but help bring us together. I’m hoping we can return to news media that will not promote lies, disinformation and their own opinions. We need facts and not innuendos.
As much as I want to turn the news off right now it’s like a train wreck – I just can’t look away! I’m looking forward to seeing what next week will bring! Thank you God for hearing our prayers.
