After taking a year off from band competitions, the Central High School Pride of Coosa County band recently competed in both the Phenix City Invitational Marching Festival and the Lake Martin Invitational Marching Contest.
These are day-long competitions held on Saturdays after late nights of playing and marching under the Friday night lights. The Pride of Coosa County band performed its half-time show and then had the opportunity to watch other bands perform, including college level bands.
In both competitions this season, our band, drum major, percussion, color guard, and majorette all scored Superior ratings, which is the highest rating. Bands are judged on elements such as music, visual performance and general effect. Thank you to band director Daryl Ingram for the long hours you dedicate to directing our students, as well as the parents who support our band students on Friday nights, as well as during band competitions. You truly are the Pride of Coosa County.
