Special to the News
The 2024 Central Homecoming festivities were enjoyed by students, parents, community members, and alumni who packed the end zone with tailgating tents for game time.
Students and teachers alike had fun dressing up each day during homecoming week while competing in the Class Olympics sponsored by the Central cheerleaders under the leadership of Breezy Johnson. The Class Olympics culminated in an assembly last Thursday with the eleventh graders raking up the most points.
Last Friday’s afternoon parade; enjoyed by both elementary and high school students, as well as visitors; included 23 entries, including first responders, community organizations, athletes, homecoming representatives in fancy cars, and class floats.
The senior class won the class float competition with their Cookie Crumble theme “Crumble the Panthers.”
Central alumni displayed the “Once a Cougar, Always a Cougar” spirit as they returned to Keith Bullard Stadium to support their alma mater.
Pre-game activities included a performance by the Pride of Coosa County band and the Central Elementary Homecoming Ceremony. Congratulations to KeKe Jones, Central Elementary School’s 2024 Homecoming Queen.
The halftime ceremony included the Central High School Homecoming Ceremony with Kelsey McLaughlin being crowned as Central High School’s 2024 Homecoming Queen and Torrance Kelley being crowned as the 2024 Homecoming King.
The culminating event for halftime, a fireworks spectacular, brought cheers and claps from the large crowd. The homecoming activities continued into Saturday with the PTO sponsoring a homecoming dance at the Central gymnasium under the direction of PTO president Maressa Ware. The dance also had a record number of attendees, and the students had a blast.
Special thanks to PTO president Maressa Ware for all your hard work in organizing the dance and providing pictures of all the homecoming events. Homecoming crowning pictures courtesy of Bill Miller Photography.
