A house party earlier this month ultimately led to four arrests for various charges, including a drug-related charge and a charge related to underage drinking for the host of the party.
Chief Deputy Scott Hammond reported that on September 14, Deputy Payton responded to the Kellyton area for a house party with underage drinking.
Upon his arrival, Payton began rounding up everyone in attendance to obtain identifications and verify their ages. In the process, many individuals fled on foot into the wooded area around the residence.
Those individuals were eventually found in the woods and detained, with another individual found under the house.
Payton got their names and birth dates, and three individuals were arrested at that time.
Kelly Gabriella Hernandez; 20 years old, of Kellyton; and 22-year-old Christopher Shane Gregory of Tallassee were each arrested for attempting to elude law enforcement.
Laraun Terrell Darby, who was found underneath the house, had marijuana on him, which led to an additional charge.
Darby; 34 years old, of Kellyton; was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, attempting to elude and disorderly conduct. His marijuana charge was elevated to first degree because of him having a prior conviction.
Further, on September 16, Darby was also arrested and charged with failure to appear payment review for possession of a controlled substance, stemming from an outstanding warrant.
Darby’s total bond was set at $10,300, and he was released on bond on September 17 to await trial.
Hernandez’s and Gregory’s bonds were each set at $2,500, and each of them was released on bond on September 15 to await trial.
Related to the case, subsequent warrants were obtained for the individual who was holding the house party.
Last Saturday, September 21, 35-year-old Macey Lyn Lane of Kellyton was arrested and charged with allowing minors to consume alcohol. Her bond was set at $2,500, and she was released on bond the same day to await trial.
