Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
This past week was Grandparents Day or Week. If you are a grandparent or great-grandparent, I’m sure most would agree with me it is a joy. I love all my grands and great-grands; they are indeed a blessing.
The inaugural Providence Baptist Church Master’s Classic Bass Tournament was a huge success. We had twenty boats to register and want to thank each of them for participating.
First place went to James Willoughby with 14.94 pounds. Second place went to Cade Crooker and Samuel Kinard with 14.84 pounds, and they also got the big fish with 6.53 pounds. Third place went to Jamie Dobbs with 12.66 pounds. As you can see, it was a close race between these leaders.
After the weigh-in, they enjoyed lunch provided by the church. All the comments were positive! Also, thanks to all the volunteers who helped with the early beginning and those that helped at the end.
The Richville Neighborhood Watch met this past week, also. This was election month, but I haven’t gotten the complete list of the new officers. Because of being quarantined with COVID-19, I was unable to attend. I’ll have a list for next week. Also, the dates for the next Richville Volunteer Fire Department Bingo night!
It seems that COVID-19 has been making a comeback in not only our area and schools, but everywhere. I recently got back from a cruise and that was my souvenir along with many others that sailed. COVID now seems to be getting as common as a cold anytime there is a group of people, especially this time of year.
My Bible verses this week are about suffering. II Corinthians 4:16-18 reads, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us and eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
Paul is writing to the Corinthians to work together happily, focusing on the Gospel regardless of the events around them. He is encouraging them to not get distracted by the things happening around them, but to remember that we experience suffering just as Jesus, but not to lose heart because of the promises of the resurrection.
Our most priceless treasure is one that can’t be seen and that’s our faith in Christ. Our pain and suffering here on earth are just temporary, but our faith will reward us with eternal life that is everlasting.
Our prayer list at church has many names that are suffering with cancer, as well as other physical and spiritual needs. Please pray for those in our community that are experiencing sickness, as well as those that are grieving with the loss of a loved one. We need to remember the shut-ins and their families, as well. So please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
