We should all be concerned about losing our “Democracy.” But first we need to really understand exactly what that is.
It is defined as “a government by the people,” “a system of government by the whole population or all eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.” It is confusing because while the United States IS a Democracy, it is also a Constitutional Republic because we are guided predominately by our Constitution.
The word “democracy” is being heard a lot from the Democratic Party right now. They claim that the Republican Party wants to destroy this part of our governance. I’m not sure where this is coming from.
The Republican Party believes in the theory of “we the people” are the ones who determine our elected officials based on the policies these candidates support. In the definitions given in the above paragraph that is what a “Democracy” is. The PEOPLE decide.
Elections include any interested candidate to run for whatever office they want to. Elections are to give the people a choice to elect the person they feel is most qualified and share their beliefs and values.
Unfortunately, that is not how this presidential election has been managed in the Democratic Party. First, it does not allow Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to run as a Democrat. In years past, the Kennedy family has been the icon of the Democratic Party. But the party determined that the only candidate it wanted was Joe Biden. It did allow a few virtually unknown candidates to run in the primary elections in some states, but firmly dismissed RFK Jr., who then ran as an Independent. This entire time many people in the Democratic Party KNEW how President Joe Biden had begun to show signs that he would not be able to effectively lead our country for another full term.
So it appears that they were hoping he could at least hold it together through the election, hopefully be reelected, and then they could look at him stepping down to allow Kamala Harris to become the president. Joe Biden’s name was not even on the primary ballot in several states. But President Joe Biden was chosen to be the Democratic candidate for president of the United States by the majority of Democratic voters.
Unfortunately for them, Biden’s condition could not be covered up anymore after his debate with Donald Trump. So, the leaders of the Democratic Party hatched the plan to push Biden to step down from the election (but not from office) and THEY would replace him with Kamala Harris. No citizen of the United States cast a vote for her. She was anointed by the powers that be to become the Democratic candidate.
Since that time, Kamala Harris has not conducted any interviews with the media (even the liberal media) to explain what her policies will be. She has only made appearances in safe Democratic locations, speaking only from the remarks provided to her on the teleprompter. She has only slipped a couple of times by going off script. They all know if she speaks off script her “word salad” will show how unaware she really is.
She has promised an interview of some kind by the end of this month – which will be the day this edition of the paper comes out. At this time they are trying to figure out how to stop a debate with Donald Trump because she would be forced to explain what her policies will be and show how inept she really is.
Instead of Kamala Harris herself explaining her policies, her supporters have been going on media outlets and telling the American people what they are. This way, she can not be held accountable after being elected if she reverses those ideas. She can claim what has been said were never her intentions. And the few things she has talked about are sound bites that may sound wonderful on paper but will be disastrous in practice – just like the socialist/communist manifestos she really believes in.
The Democratic National Convention was a typical anti-Trump show. Most of the speakers only talked about how horrible he is, but nothing about what their candidate would do. During the convention, more information came out about the true past of Tim Walz and the lies that have come out about his military service and actual coaching experiences plus more of his political policies that are actually more liberal than Kamala. Is he who you would really want to be the president should something happen to Kamala?
As that convention ended a major announcement was made by the Trump campaign. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suspended his campaign and has thrown his support to Donald Trump. They found they actually agree on many of the priority issues facing our nation.
The fact that a member of one of the most Democratic families in our history has walked away totally from the Democratic Party is astonishing. Even RFK Jr.’s family has come out against him for doing this. But Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is just following the mantra of the JFK/RFK administration – “it’s not what your country can do for you, it’s what you can do for your country.” Hopefully, this will be another major shift in our political environment.
