Equality & NIxburg News
Jennifer Williamson
I am waiting for true fall weather to arrive; it’s just too hot and too dry. Battling what seems to be a life of broken things from house, to barn, to lawnmower, to truck. Everything needs fixing, and I am taxed to the bone, budget is thin, and time just not available for it all.
I don’t seem alone as I keep hearing from friends and neighbors about tough times, lost wages, high prices, can’t get things fixed, quality of products down, and so on. Hopefully this is just a short-term dilemma for us and things will turn around soon. I have lived through past recessions and even escaped a depression (yes, while the country suffered a recession, one state suffered a depression). This, too, shall pass.
I will continue to move forward, a little bit at a time. I have been able to get some paint up and have decided on a crown molding design. Hopefully will have trim up this weekend, so making some progress on the house’s entry way. Then I can move on to another room and continue working on drywall, but hoping to be able to hire someone to do all the mud work this time around.
Events and activities in the area include:
The Equality Volunteer Fire Department (EVFD) is still looking for more volunteers to support their efforts in keeping us all safe. They need as much involvement as they can get, so again, please come and support your community by volunteering your time at a great organization. Also, you are free to join the training on first and third Mondays at 6:30 p.m. even if just to watch and find out more about what EVFD has going on.
Equality Volunteer Fire Department’s Labor Day Boston butt and rib sale fundraiser has ended, and from what I hear it was another successful fundraiser with ribs selling out quickly. Those that ordered, make sure you pick up this weekend.
Equality Volunteer Fire Department sponsored Bingo has been canceled because of the Labor Day holiday and many folks having weekend plans.
I depend upon my readers to share with me what is happening within your organizations, churches, neighborhoods, groups, or family to share in next week’s column. Please contact me; leave a voice message or text 256-531-6460 or email at coosacafe@gmail.com.
