The Buzz
Buzzy the Buzzard
Buzzy needs a haircut. Buzzy needs to take stuff to the laundromat. Buzzy needs to get a prescription filled, drop off an UPS package, buy some new sneakers, and take an exercise class.
And each of these little things requires a half-hour flight going and coming. That takes a big chunk out of a bird’s day. And a big hit to the wallet for fuel. Ever wonder why the gas station is the most viable business in Rockford?
What does it take to sustain a business in our community? El Vaquero’s 2 stands out because it has fast and friendly service. I hope they make it.
What else might make it here? Maybe some combinations would work. You know, the barbershop-bookstore-laundry; the yoga studio-thrift shop-sporting goods; the auto detail-mechanic-parts store; the produce stand-food truck-catering-home crafts place.
There are all kinds of excuses. I hear so many people work out of town that they do their errands after work; Alex City, Clanton, Wetumpka, and Sylacauga are traffic jams from 4-6 p.m. most days. I hear that there is not enough commerce; try a combination business because there is strength in diversity.
Excuses and not enough creative leadership. I love this place and keep looking for changes ahead.
Your eye in the sky, love, Buzzy
