Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Good luck to the Central Cougars tonight as they play their first football game of the season. It will be at home playing Sylacauga. Kickoff is 7 p.m. Hopefully the weather will be cooler.
Don’t forget next weekend is the Richville Volunteer Fire Department Annual Labor Day Boston Butt sale. See any fire department member to get added to the list for pickup; there are usually no extras. They are $35 with pickup on Saturday morning, August 31, from 7 to 9. Also, the Richville Neighborhood Watch will have baked goods for sale as a fundraiser. So, come out and support your fire department and Neighborhood Watch while getting delicious food!

Everyone is invited.
Union Baptist Church will have homecoming on Sunday, August 25. Starting at 10 a.m. special music will be provided by The David Vick Band. At 11 a.m., Bro. Joe Camp, interim pastor, will bring the message. Following the service, they will have a fellowship lunch. All are invited to attend.
The Inaugural Providence Baptist Church Master’s Classic Bass Tournament will be Saturday, September 7, at Lake Mitchell, Barrett’s Landing, starting at safe daylight. Weigh-in will be at 2 p.m. The church will be serving hot dogs and chips to all. This is a community event with all proceeds to be paid out in winnings.
At one time, Labor Day signaled the start of the school year. However, school has been in session for almost a month now. So much has changed; some good and some not so good. I had a college professor who had the motto, “All change is good.” However, observing different events and situations, change is not always good for the better. Yes, we need some change to keep us out of a rut of doing the same old, same old. However, consistency is good.
My Bible verse this week is about being constant, or rather God being constant. Hebrews 13:8 reads, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.’’
Regardless of the year or season, Jesus is always the same. The way to salvation stays the same; you have to believe on Him and ask Him into your heart. That’s the way it was during our forefathers day and the same today. Believing that you just have to be “good,” follow the Bibles’ teachings and do good to others, that’s not what it takes. It’s more than just believing in the existence of God and Jesus; you have to put your complete trust in Him. The devil believes in God’s existence!
Our prayer list at church has many names that are suffering with cancer, as well as other physical and spiritual needs. Please pray for those in our community that are experiencing sickness, as well as those that are grieving with the loss of a loved one. We need to remember the shut-ins and their families, as well. So please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
