A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5:13 p.m. Saturday, August 10, has claimed the life of a Montgomery youth.
The 10-year-old was fatally injured when the 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe the child was a passenger in left the roadway, struck a guardrail and re-entered the roadway before overturning. The 10-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Santa Fe; Craig T. Hayes, 31, of Tuskegee; and Roderica Reese, 36, of Montgomery, who was a passenger, were both injured and transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.
A 4-year-old and 9-year-old, who were also passengers in the Santa Fe, were also injured and transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment.
The crash occurred on Interstate-85 near the 15-mile marker, approximately two miles east of Montgomery, in Montgomery County.
Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
