Bobby Royal enjoyed a truly special birthday celebration last month.
On July 14, a very special birthday celebration was held for Deacon Bobby Royal and in sweet loving memories of his (deceased) twin sister, Betty Royal Holley, who passed away last year. It was extra special, for it has been 30 years since a large family gathering has been held without it being a home-going service.
Bobby was excited that he was the special one to hold or represent the honor along with his twin sister, Betty, who could not attend. However, her spirit was all over the place. This celebration was held at the Coosa County Peace and Goodwill Life Center with many people attending and enjoying great fellowship, good food and music.
We truly missed Betty. She and Bobby would have had the floor rocking. They danced together so well. They were the best dancers. My niece calls Bobby one of the Temptations.
Bobby and Betty taught me how to dance back in the days, which it didn’t take much to teach me because it runs in the family (LOL). We are cousins, but seriously, Bobby knows his steps. It was a wonderful celebration. Everyone wished Bobby a happy birthday and said to Betty, “Peace be still. Rest on, Sister.”
Happy birthday to my August babies: son, Jason Bernard, on August 2; grandson, Chesley, and nephew Minister LaJerrell Hill on the same day; and also Police Chief Corey Shaw on August 10; and to my brother, Robert Johnson, D’Ollis Lee and Darryl Cunningham.
Mrs. Maxine R. Ware wants to wish her brother, Daniel Robinson, and her childhood longtime friend, Wilhelmina Hardy Riley, a blessed happy birthday. And guess what? We all wish Maxine Ware a happy birthday, too.
Maxine also wishes her brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Bessie, a happy anniversary on August 2, with much love.
Union Square’s Neighborhood Watch meeting was short and sweet. Many were out because of illness. We were happy to see Ms. Sue Rogers. She has been a busy lady, along with some health issues.
We miss Mrs. Pat Windsor and Mr. Aaron Riggins tremendously; pray they will soon be better. We missed you, Johnny and Robin Schmidt. Everyone was happy to have a new couple to join us. Pastor Ray and Lady Amy Franklin are our new neighbors, moving from Florida to Alabama, and what makes it more special, they settled in Union Square! We welcome them.
Thinking of you, Judge Carlton Teel. I miss seeing you and Kim. Love you guys. Thinking of you, too, attorney Frank Teel and wife, Page. Wishing y’all well.
