In My Humble Opinion
Jodi McDade
Where, oh where, do I start this week? I feel like I’m living somewhere between the Twilight Zone, 1984, War of the Worlds, and some type of futuristic Syfy film! Every day seems to bring something bizarre or unbelievable into the news – so much so that it’s hard to remember just what happened yesterday!
I’m waiting to hear who Kamala Harris will pick as her vice president! I’m kind of hoping for Pete Buttigieg – he brings almost what she will to an administration and they would be a wonderful team. At least she does seem to know what pronouns are appropriate and what a woman is. My major concern right now about the Democratic Party is its obsession with abortion. It seems to be the driving force behind their polling numbers. Their voters are more concerned with being able to have available, taxpayer-paid, abortions near home and with no limit on how many they can have. Abortion polls more than double their concerns about the economy, the military and all other issues that most Republicans are concerned about.
Generally speaking, the party roles have reversed so much in the last 20 years. The Republicans have become the party of the working people and middle class. Democrats support unions over free market and are more interested in the opinions (and money) of Hollywood and the other superrich! Republicans try to end wars and conflicts to the advantage of the American people while the Democrats just want to cave in to any radical cause regardless of the long-term consequences. Republicans want to balance budgets, cut costs and unnecessary expenditures, and focus on what puts America first in how the government works. Democrats push mandates and regulations that put more and more expenses on the working people and control their everyday lives (medical insurance, education, free stuff, gun control, all electric everything – cars, stoves, heat, etc.). They want the government to be in charge of everything so we don’t need to make any decisions for ourselves.
I was very impressed by the new acting director of the Secret Service and the deputy director of the FBI. When they testified before the Senate earlier this week they both were very forthcoming about the events of the attempted assassination of President Trump and the mistakes that are being discovered. Unlike the former director of the Secret Service and the director of the FBI, they did not try to cover up anything and promised to provide information that was requested. This catastrophe just shows how many problems we have within our law enforcement and intelligence agencies since the Democrats have insisted on downsizing or eliminating police and holding criminals responsible for their actions.
One more example of the lack of protection we are receiving from our justice system surfaced again a few blocks from the Capitol when pro-Hamas/anti-Israel demonstrators were allowed to burn our American flags from Union Station and then raise the Palestinian flags to be flown instead. A few people were arrested, but they were released. Now they have decided to go look for the instigators and participants. Why not keep them when you had them? But remember, they are still looking for people who attended the January 6 demonstrations at the Capitol – and holding others for years with no trials.
And how can we ever forget that the 2024 Summer Olympic Games were opened by a very confusing program that looked remarkably similar to the painting of The Last Supper, played by drag queens. Regardless of the claim that it had something to do with Greek mythology, it appeared to most Christians as an attack on our religion. Is this really the type of world we want to live in and raise children and grandchildren? Everyone has a right to their own lifestyles and opinions, but when it crosses over to shoving it down other people’s throats or being unaccepting of other views it has taken an entirely different course. Why should I be expected to support something I don’t believe in, but then not be accepted in return for my beliefs? And Christians and conservatives are the ones called intolerant!
I could go on and on and probably write a book, but I’ll stop here. I am recuperating from cataract surgery and don’t need to stare at this computer screen any longer. I will end with saying there is only one real solution to resolving most of the problems in our world – prayer. Christians, Jews, Evangelicals, and other God-fearing citizens need to join together in asking God to step back in and save us from ourselves and the people who want to destroy our CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC! We have until November 5 so we need to get busy!
