Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
Get ready to save some money this weekend, July 19-21, on back-to-school sales tax holiday. Our county and towns are participating; thanks go to them.
Alexander City is, but not Tallapoosa County, so need to check and see who is. Also, some have items that are not eligible, so it is up to the shopper to check out.
This is a good time of year to stock up on school supplies for your Operation Christmas Child boxes, also. I try to watch sales throughout the year on items that I usually place in the boxes. A little bit of savings here and there adds up, enabling me to do more boxes for less money.
I don’t have the date of the next Bingo, but hopefully by next week. The Richville Volunteer Fire Department will be selling Boston Butts again for Labor Day weekend. I don’t have the price yet, but pickup will be Saturday morning, August 31, from 7 to 9.
The Richville Neighborhood Watch meeting is August 1.
The Coosa County Historical Society will have our quarterly meeting on Sunday, July 28, at 2 p.m. at the Rockford Senior Center. So mark your calendars and come out and see what’s happening. You don’t have to be a member to attend.
My Bible verse this week is about being prepared. Proverbs 21:5 reads, ‘The plans of the diligent certainly lead to profit, but anyone who is reckless certainly becomes poor.”
We as Christians need to have a good plan. We should think before we act, as well as think wisely. When we plan our actions and thoughts, we tend to see better results. Planning and research increase the chances of success in what you are going to do, whether it’s making a purchase or any decision.
Sometimes we get caught up in the moment and jump into something that ends up on more examination being the wrong thing for us. Satan encourages us to act quickly without thought. God encourages us to examine the circumstances and pray for guidance.
An old saying about “let me sleep on it” has merit. Considering something overnight before deciding allows time for you to make sure it’s the right thing for the right reason. But one thing we do not need to delay upon acting is getting right with God. Many people believe in the existence of God, but believing and having Him in your heart is something different. While church attendance is not necessary to being saved, it certainly helps to learn how.
Our prayer list at church has many names that are suffering with cancer, as well as other physical and spiritual needs. Please pray for those in our community that are experiencing sickness, as well as those that are grieving with the loss of a loved one. We need to remember the shut-ins and their families, as well. So please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
