Corrie Haynes will once again serve as the drum major for the Pride of Coosa County band for the upcoming 2024 marching band season.
For the second year in a row, Corrie attended Spirit Camp at Jacksonville State University to hone her skills. Although most of Corrie’s time was spent learning in classes, attendees also had the opportunity to enjoy the recreational activities that “college life” offers such as the pool, student union and recreational center.
Corrie stated the following about her experience, “Even though I was nervous about going, I knew it was an opportunity to better enable myself to lead my band. I took this opportunity to improve myself as a conductor and leader. I learned a lot this year thanks to my instructors and peers.”
Corrie added, “Even though I earned the Most Improved Drum Major award, the best award was the friends I made along the way and getting to perform with the Spirit of Atlanta.”
Thank you to Central band director Daryl Ingram for coordinating the camp experience for Corrie. Pictured is Corrie with Kayden, the trumpet player from the Spirit of Atlanta.
When Corrie is not working on her musical endeavors, she volunteers her time painting murals in the classrooms at Central High School; pictured is Corrie working on her Edgar Allan Poe mural in an English classroom.
We are looking forward to another great season with Corrie leading the Pride of Coosa County band under the direction of Mr. Ingram.
