A Vincent woman was arrested late last month on drug-related charges following a traffic stop.
On June 22, while on routine patrol, Deputy Payton responded to a reckless driver on U.S. Highway 231. Upon making a traffic stop, while talking with the driver Payton noticed that she appeared to be very nervous, according to reports.
The driver was only able to provide a non-drivers identification card. Payton asked the driver to step out of the vehicle so that he could perform a field sobriety test.
Because of the signs and clues of intoxication without the smell of alcohol, Payton proceeded to deploy K-9 Archie to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle.
Payton also began a probable cause search of the vehicle and found a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, he also recovered a syringe and needle that tested positive for heroin.
As such, on June 22, 41-year-old Krystal Brandy Bowers of Vincent was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bowers’ bond amount was not available, but she was released on bond on June 24 to await trial.
