A second arrest has been made in a burglary and arson case that occurred in the Kellyton community last month after a residence was burglarized twice.

As previously reported, on May 20 the Sheriff’s Office took a report for burglary and theft from a residence on County Road 50 in Kellyton. Additionally, on May 22 Deputy Payton responded to the Kellyton area for a report of a burglary in progress at the same residence, and he noticed smoke coming from an open window at the residence.

It was later reported that individuals had intentionally set fire to the residence.

As reported June 14,  28-year-old Quyntarvis Diandrew Whetstone of Alexander City was arrested June 10 and charged in connection to the case. He was arrested on additional charges June 12 after it was determined that he was involved with the burglary of the same residence both times.

The case remained an ongoing investigation with an additional arrest anticipated.

In a follow-up, on June 17 Jaden Lawrence Beckwood, 20 years old of Alexander City, was also arrested in connection to the case. He was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree arson and fourth-degree theft of property.

Beckwood’s total bond for all three charges was set at $12,500. He was released on bond the same day to await trial.

Sheriff Michael Howell stated, “My office has worked diligently to locate these individuals, and I appreciate the public’s assistance with this case.”
