Volunteers, sponsors needed to help with projects

Summer break means it’s time once again for United Way’s Day of Action, with Lake Martin Area United Way once again hosting two dates of service this year.
Every year United Way organizations across the nation participate in a national day of service called Day of Action. It gives individuals and businesses the opportunity to give back to their communities by volunteering time, labor, supplies, and more during the day of service.
The Lake Martin Area United Way is hosting Coosa County’s Day of Action on Friday, July 19, at Central High School Coosa County from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Additionally, L.M.A.U.W. will host a Day of Action at two schools in Tallapoosa County on June 21, also from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Alexander City Middle School and Horseshoe Bend School in Tallapoosa County.
Sponsors are needed to help with the costs of needed supplies for each school, drinks and refreshments for the volunteers and more.
Projects will vary by school but will include painting, garden and landscape cleanup, general campus cleanup, and more.
Volunteer registration is now open for United Way’s Day of Action in both Coosa and Tallapoosa counties. Those interested can sign-up to volunteer online at www.unitedwaylakemartin.org/day-action.
Additionally, those interested in sponsoring or making a donation to help with supplies needed for the two Day of Action events can contact Courtney Layfield at the United Way office at 256-329-3600 or courtney.layfield@unitedwaylakemartin.org for more information.
