Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
I hope all the fathers and those that stand in the place of fathers had a great day last week. Fathers or father figures are important in the lives of children. Parents are the first role models that children experience.
My heart goes out to those that do not have the experience of loving parents. There are many reasons when children need foster parents. Sometimes just a temporary thing or sometimes they are needed long term. The Coosa County Department of Human Resources is looking for foster parents. The next preparation course is coming up soon. So, if you are interested, please contact them at 256-377-2023.
Last week I took a cruise with my three daughters. We had a wonderful time. However, I could not get the ship’s internet to work with my laptop, so therefore, no column for last week.
We drove to Jacksonville Beach, Fla., a couple of days ahead of getting on the ship where we visited Nassau. Good memories were made! Cruising is so enjoyable; I’m looking forward to my next one!
We are now gearing up for VBS for ages Pre–K to youth. It starts tonight, Friday, June 21, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., then continues on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Family Night will be Sunday, June 23, at 6 p.m. If your child needs a ride, please let me know. We will run the van if needed.
Concord and Union, please let me know the details if you are planning a VBS.
This week my Bible verse is about families since we just celebrated Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Colossians 3:13 reads, “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
Families can be united or separated. Often, families turn upon each other when they should be clinging to each other. It is so sad to see siblings not speaking because of some insignificant occurrence.
Families are important! The Bible tells us to turn the other cheek, but often we are more inclined to forgive someone that is not family. We all disagree with something someone says or does at one time or another, but it shouldn’t stand in the way of family love and forgiveness. While friends are important, no one can take the place of family.
Continue to pray for Mrs. Geraldine Turner, who is 103 years old in the nursing home in Alexander City and is now in hospice care. Also, continue to remember the family of Mrs. Sandy Dunlap who passed away after I wrote my last column. Our church has an empty place where each of them sat at one time.
Our prayer list at church has many names that are suffering with cancer, as well as other physical and spiritual needs. Please pray for those in our community that are experiencing sickness, as well as those that are grieving with the loss of a loved one.
We need to remember the shut-ins and their families, as well. So please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
