Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
June has arrived! Happy birthday to all those celebrating this month, including my middle daughter.
There have been many pictures on Facebook of yards filled with beautiful flowers. This is a wonderful time of year when cold weather is gone and usually the hot days of summer have not arrived yet.
The Richville Volunteer Fire Department will have its monthly Bingo on Saturday, June 15, at 6:30. Come out and have a fun time while providing support for the fire department. They also sell concessions.
Providence Baptist Church had Homecoming last Sunday with a good turnout of members, former members and guests. One guest we enjoyed seeing was Robert Smith and his wife, Ellen. Robert recently suffered a near fatal aneurysm, so it was great to see him out and about.
We are now gearing up for VBS for ages pre–K to youth. It starts Friday, June 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., then continues on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Family Night will be Sunday, June 23, at 6 p.m.
Sardis just finished its VBS with everyone having a wonderful time. Concord and Union, please let me know the details if you are planning a VBS.
Congratulations to Carson and Nicole Cardwell who were married last Saturday. He is the grandson of Rick and Glenda Cardwell.
Ashley Taylor Beilsten was showered last Saturday with gifts for her little girl due in July. Ashley is the daughter of Ursula Allen and granddaughter of Dot Hughes.
Also, my family is expanding with the revealing of a great-grandson due in early November. He will be the fifth generation, Jimmy Reed Nickolson V, with two sisters, Ava and Charly, whose parents are Reed and Grace Nickolson, and grandchildren of Charlene and Tres Nickolson.
This week my Bible verse is short, Joshua 1:9, which reads, “Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
God is always with us even in the darkest and hardest hours of our life. I don’t think many things are harder than facing the death of a loved one. This verse gives us comfort and hope during the dark days and makes them feel a little brighter as we are reassured of the promise of the resurrection.
My heart is heavy this week as we received news that Mrs. Geraldine Turner, who is 103 years old in the nursing home in Alexander City, and Mrs. Sandy Dunlap, who continues to live in our community, are experiencing severe health issues. Please be in prayer for these two special ladies from our community and their families. Give them comfort and reassurance that Jesus is with them during the days that are ahead.
Our prayer list at church has many names that are suffering with cancer, as well as other physical and spiritual needs. Please pray for those in our community that are experiencing sickness, as well as those that are grieving with the loss of a loved one.
We need to remember the shut-ins and their families, as well. So please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
