On Sunday, June 2, the Alabama Department of Corrections Staton K-9 Unit located and arrested a male trespasser on state property near Staton and Elmore Correctional facilities.
A backpack was recovered containing various items of contraband.
Suspect Thomas Stinson was transported to the Elmore County Jail by an Elmore County deputy. He was charged with second-degree promoting prison contraband, third-degree criminal trespassing, first-degree possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, attempting to elude, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Law Enforcement Services Division investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be pending.
