We enjoyed my granddaughter’s graduation in North Carolina last weekend. Pictured from left are Butch, Chesley, Amirah, and myself.

My granddaughter, Amirah.
Hickory, North Carolina, made Butch, Chesley and my Memorial Day weekend one to remember while celebrating my granddaughter Amirah’s graduation there, which was the top of it all.
The weather was great. Much joy and happiness were displayed among family with laughter, tears, hugging, etc. Last Friday was the graduation. We all got together on Saturday and had a wonderful brunch and a super fellowship with loved ones we had not met before and some we had not seen in 10 years or more.
The food and fellowship were indescribable. This trip to North Carolina was so great that Butch and Chesley received their birthday gifts early. They were so happy that I paid for all of their expense. They said the trip and me doing that was better than a regular birthday gift.
Butch will celebrate his birthday on June 10 and Chesley on August 10. They don’t expect another birthday gift from me when the time comes. They are expensive guys. They want to go back; however, it will be on them!
It was a short vacation for all of us, but a great one that was needed indeed, especially for Butch and Chesley. Thanks to God and Amirah for making this happen. Congratulations on one journey completed. Just remember there is much more to be accomplished. There is always room to go higher.
Union Square’s Neighborhood Watch meeting is Monday, June 3, at 6 p.m. Don’t forget!
Our prayers and condolences go out to the Armour family. We lost a true pioneer, Mrs. Hattye M. Armour of Goodwater, Coosa County.
I want to give a shout out to Lizi Gwin, managing editor of “The Outlook,” Tallapoosa Publishers Inc. She writes some of the most meaningful articles. Thank you, Lizi. I could name many, but time won’t permit. My column is short this week for various reasons.
Happy birthday to all June babies.
