On Monday we will honor the brave United States soldiers who provided the ultimate sacrifice of their lives so we can enjoy the freedoms provided by this country.
Thank God for the many, many troops – many of whom were mere teenagers, or in their young 20s – from the various generations and conflicts that died in battle protecting life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Additionally, a huge thank you goes out to the families of those soldiers.
We owe the soldiers so much. From the American Revolution to the more recent overseas conflicts, thousands upon thousands have died for their country.
Most of us have family members or someone we know who falls into this category. We need to take a moment to give thanks and realize the importance of their sacrifices. Truly, they will never be forgotten.
They fought for America and died for everything this country stands for. It is still by far the best country to live in. I would not want to reside anywhere else.
On the spiritual side of things, we look no further than to Jesus Christ – who provided the ultimate sacrifice on Calvary. Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection provides the true freedom from what ails the human race.
The miraculous work frees us from the death sentence handed down from man’s original disobedience that plunged humanity into sin and death.
The magnitude of Jesus’s sacrifice is immense, to say the least. We have no way of escape from sin, death and hell outside of the one mediator between men and God – the man Jesus Christ, who gave himself as a ransom for all.
It cost Jesus’ blood to purchase us and His bride – the holy nation, His church.
How do you describe the feeling when Jesus’ blood is applied to a heart? The person is forgiven of a multitude of sins, is born again of the Spirit and the angels in heaven rejoice.
To God the Father, it was worth sending His only begotten Son into this world to provide restoration to lost humanity.
To those who don’t know God at this moment, why don’t you repent of sin (express godly sorrow for the sin committed) and ask Jesus into your heart?
The liberating experience provides true freedom from the awful depths of sin we have committed.
In other words, with one stroke of Jesus’ blood applied to the heart, the person is freed from transgressions they have committed.
There is no peace like the peace God provides through Jesus. No Jesus – no peace. Know Jesus – know peace. He is the Prince of Peace.
That piano weight you’ve been lugging around on your back for so long can be lifted off by Jesus. He has the authority to wipe away sin and the sin nature.
Colossians 2:13-14 states, “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.”
When we confess our sins, Jesus is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
When we come to God’s grace by faith in Jesus’ work, our sins are literally out of there. They are gone – as far as darkness is from dawn.
They are literally removed from us, which liberates us with the true freedom of God.
“As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us,” – Psalm 103:12.
That is an infinite distance, meaning our sins are literally removed from the picture, and we have right standing with God.
The Bile instructs us to continue in God’s Word. In that realm, there is a peace that passes all understanding. There is joy and liberty in walking in God’s Word.
Jesus said in John 8:31-36: “…if ye continue in my word, the are ye my disciples indeed. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Verses 34-36: “…Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
Thank you to the U.S. troops that gave their all for us, and thank you to God for His love and providing us a way back to Him through the one and only Jesus Christ – the bishop and shepherd of our souls.
