A Talladega County man was arrested last Thursday on multiple charges after allegedly stealing something at the scene of a wreck.
On April 25, Deputy Overton was dispatched to a traffic accident on U.S. Highway 280 in Kellyton. Upon arrival, he spoke with Kellyton Fire Chief Jerry Sewell who reported to Overton that an individual, who was not involved in the wreck, had gone into a car and took an item out of the vehicle.
Overton made contact with the individual at the Kellyton Texaco station and found the missing item in that person’s vehicle.
The on-scene investigation led to the arrest of 61-year-old Eddie Frank Player of Talladega County. He was arrested April 25 and charged with unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, fourth-degree theft of property, public intoxication, and county property damage.
The stolen item was recovered and returned to the victim.
Player’s total bond was set at $5,500. As of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
